Nadia Elena Comaneci
It was during the Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she achieved one of the most memorable sporting moments of all time - the score of the first-ever perfect 10, on the asymmetrical bars. Adding to this her score, she added six more perfect 10s and became the youngest Olympic gold medallist. The dazzling Nadia Comaneci did more than draw the attention of others, but she also helped Romania gain a global presence. By achieving a feat that was unattainable she became an iconic image and helped promote gymnastics throughout the world. Moreover, it changed the gender perception of female athletes. The effect of her performances at the Olympics is so significant that her toe move (release) and her step toe are named after her on the event's uneven bars. Apart from the Olympics, she showed remarkable performances at her participation in the World Championships and European Championships as well, thus becoming an icon and one of the top-known gymnasts anyone could be privileged to. The 'Queen' of the Olympics when she emigrated to America, experimented with the art of modeling and marketing equipment for sports.
